Sienovese Costume

Aristocratic Imperial Costume

Sienovese fashions resemble Mithraic clothes in some ways and Imperial ones in others.  They tend to dress more brightly than either of the other peoples, however.  Vibrant bright reds, oranges, blues and greens are popular, as are lighter more pastel colors (for both men and women).

Sienovese men wear their hair longer than their Imperial or Covenanter counter parts.  Sometimes they will let it grow to just below the shoulders, other times they will trim it at neck length. In the latter case, an unmarried man would be likely to keep one lock longer.  This is called the love-lock and signifies his availability and romantic inclinations.  As with Imperial women, Sienovese women keep their hair long but wear it bound up much of the time.  Unlike Mithraic women, Married women don't necessarily keep their hair covered.
  1. This pair represents a couple in reasonably formal evening dress.  Sienova is one place where men can get away with practical boots rather than heeled and buckled shoes at formal occasions.  The Covenant States would be another....
  2. The woman in this couple is wearing a "Country Dress."  This uncorsetted style is popular at informal day-time gatherings, trips to the country, or for the young, unmarried, and flirtatious girl, anytime.  The style lends itself to fine, lightweight cottons and gauzy linen under dresses.  Note that men's fashions change little from dress to casual.  The weight of cloth might become heavier and the doublet would be worn closed.  There might be more slashes and trip on the formal clothing too, but the basic style remains the same.
