| Praedia Teneris is a
world where
both Renaissance science and technology and magick
co-exist.
The technology level is roughly equivalent to that of Earth, c.
1500-1550. Some regions, such as Galacia and the Fisher
Coast still exist at a level of technology closer to that of
1400-1450. Praedia takes her name from the metaphysical walls
that surround the world, keeping the realm of demon-kind at bay. Magick exists in many forms on Praedia Teneris. Achaean Technical Magic, used to manipulate the world or the caster's own mind and body, is common throughout Achaea, Galacia, and the Imperium. The Gaels, Marchers, and Mithraics channel power from their Gods. A few mages know about more ancient traditions of magic that predate mankind entirely. Most of the residents of Praedia are human. In addition to humans, there are the fey. It is well known that the fey are perilous, even at their best. Men who deal with them often go mad and waste away. Most fey live in the realm of Faerie, far away from the human world There are two exceptions, however: the Dwarves (who aren't actually much smaller than men, just very broad) and the Elves. Both races age, albeit slowly, thus it is believed that they have lived in mortal lands long enough to have become tainted with mortality themselves. The populations of both races are very small, numbering under 100,000. |
